Dr. Laura P. Dannels is the Chief Talent Officer for Wellstar Health System and an Adjunct Professor for Columbia University’s Human Capital program. In the healthcare arena, Laura serves as a strategic business partner, an executive ally of core business strategies and transformation programs, and as an enterprise change agent for all things ‘talent’.
Her leadership background is connected to well-recognized establishments, including Kaiser Permanente, where her leadership efforts to establish KP University were globally recognized in Training Magazine where she was selected as a “Top 5 Emerging Leader”. In 2022, Laura was recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as a top leader under 50, and in 2021 she was included in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list of key business leaders.
Prior to Wellstar and Kaiser, Dannels led transformational leadership development efforts for PG&E, which resulted in the organization ranking #14 in Training Magazine’s premier list of “Top 125 Global Training Organizations." Her endeavor received praise as a model program for growing leaders from The White House and Obama Administration. She founded a human capital consulting firm and has spent seventeen years working across most functions of human resources. Com
Laura completed her Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Change from Pepperdine University in 2020, MBA from the University of Houston in 2012, and holds several certifications, such as Executive Coaching from UC Berkeley and Strategy and Design thinking from Stanford. She has a passion for helping communities thrive and currently serves as a board member of JDC, a leading humanitarian organization working in over 70 countries. Personally, Laura has a passion for international travel and all things outdoors to include cycling, swimming, hiking, and kayaking.
